Motion Control for TV and Film

Portable, reliable motion control for every production.
We have transported our Milos all over the USA and overseas. The rig is designed to be easy to move around a location or studio space on floor wheels. It can be transported whole when traveling by road. For longer trips it is designed to be easily taken apart into 7 main pieces (excluding rails) by just 3 people. Typically from arrival on set the Milo is ready to shoot within 60 minutes--a mere hour!

Software
Our rigs are programmed using Flair Motion Control software, the most advanced motion control software available. Moves can be planned in 3D packages, fed into Flair and executed by our rigs. Reversely, moves programmed in Flair can be exported to 3D packages. For following live action or adding a handheld feel we have handweels and pan bars (encoded Fluid head) as well as options for manual focus/zoom record and playback.
Long Arm Milo
A longer arm can be fitted to the Milo extending its reach and increasing maximum camera height from 12 to 17 feet. Because of Milo's incredibly rigid structure, the longer arm maintains excellent stability when starting and stopping quickly.

Mel Scripts and Rig Models
A MEL script is available for customers of Camera Control Inc to facilitate import and export of data to and from Maya(tm). The MEL script has been developed over several years and is fully featured. The script is easy to use and converts between Maya camera move data and Flair standard data files for easy import and export. The Script is supported by the writer of Flair software/CCI Lead Operator Simon Wakley and so full technical support is right at hand. It has an interface similar to the existing Flair Import/Export interface and will import and export Single n   ode Camera, as well as the standard 2 node Flair Camera (Camera and Target) as well as the advanced Maya 3 Node camera (Camera, Target & Up) which greatly facilitates moves that go over the top of objects and also any world space rotations that affect the horizon. - No other Motion Control rig or interface supports these advanced features (Used on Aviator movie and NetZero commercials).

Phillip Plein Fashion Show
We took our entire rental inventory to Milan where each robot was programmed to dress, accessorized and photograph the models as they moved along on motorised catwalk.
Stella Artois VR experience
Drone footage was tracked over Wimbledon tennis club and then imported into our motion base to simulate the flying experience. This was set up in Waterloo train station for a weeklong event during the tennis championships.
Nissan live chromo key set
We set up a live chromo key stage at the Dubai Motor Show. Each attendee was shot alongside the car against green screen and then given the final composited footage on memory stick before leaving.

3D import / export and encoding

How the 3d and the real world come together for the better.
Here at MrMoco we have seen the massive rise in CGI, previsualisation and camera tracking. But rather than seeing these tools as a threat to Motion Control we actually believe they can be used to enhance motion control’s effectiveness and quality.
Importing
Here we refer to taking a 3D camera move and importing it into our motion control software Flair. Part of this process is solving. Solving is done by our operators using a software called Iktrix. This takes the 3D move and checks that it’s within the acceleration, velocity and reach of the chosen rig. It also allows us to plan the motion control shoot by determining how much rail and where the rail should be placed with huge time savings.
Exporting
Exporting refers to taking camera data from motion control rig in a format that can be read in 3d software packages to aid post-production. In order for the data to be 100% reliable we require time during set up to fully line up the camera and calibrate the lens. If you require this data please let us know before the shoot. We also recommended that 3d tracking markers are also used where possible. If possible zoom lens shouldn’t be used if exporting. They do not model well and the nodal point moves when you zoom, so it adds an extra complexity.
Encoding
Encoding refers to mounting encoders on non-motion controlled equipment to very accurately measure and record their motion. Encoding is widely used to aid in post-production giving the exact data of what a camera, lens or object was doing during filming. Anything can be encoded, sometimes just a single axis is encoded and sometimes 20 depending on the application. MrMoco can interface and encode a huge variety of equipment, including lenses, dollies, cranes and heads.
